Connecting to the Wireless

How‐to connect to your home wireless network on a ZCS Netbook

1) Double‐click the Windows Wireless connection icon found in the lower right of your computer.

2) The Wireless Network Connection window should appear and you should see your wireless network listed with the network name you chose. If you don't see your network, click Refresh network list in the upper‐left corner. Click your network name (also known as the “SSID”), and then click Connect in the lower‐right corner.

3) If your network is unsecured (no password or encryption key), it should immediately connect. If you have a secured network (most likely), then Windows XP will then prompt you to enter your key. Type the encryption key that you wrote down upon setting up your wireless network, or one that was provided by your Internet Service Provider. You will need to type this in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes, and then click Connect.

4) Windows XP will show its progress as it connects to your network. After you're connected, you can now close the Wireless Network Connection window. If successful, you should see the following bubble (with your network name instead of the one pictured): Note: If the Wireless Network Connection window continues to show Acquiring Network Address, you may have mistyped the encryption key. Please repeat the steps above if this occurs. If you do not know what your encryption key is or if your wireless access was setup by a third party, please contact your Internet Service Provider or the original wireless router installer for this information.
